The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with the four water establishments to provide financial and material support to improve their infrastructure.

The first MoU, worth $2.3 million, was signed with the Establishment of the Water of Beirut and Mount Lebanon to install water meters in Kesrouan. Meters will be installed in Ajaltoun, Rayfoun, and Qlayaat villages.

USAID will provide a grant of $10 million to the North Lebanon Water Establishment to restore and develop potable water networks and reservoirs in Deddeh-Koura.

Another $3.3 million were granted by USAID to the South Lebanon Water Establishment to improve the overall infrastructure and rehabilitate a pumping station in the Shehabiyeh area.

The Bekaa Water Establishment signed an MoU with USAID, valued at $11 million to replace and rehabilitate potable water networks in Hoch al Umara.

The U.S.-based Chemonics International and CDM Smith were contracted to provide technical assistance, training, and infrastructure development in all four establishments.
