Ain Wazein Medical Village announced it will launch specialized centers in the Chouf area.

The plan will increase the total built-up area of the hospital from 27,000 square meters (m2) to 42,000.

Investment in the project is estimated at $20 million. Funds will be raised from donations, loans, and internally.

The plan comprises adding two new buildings to the Geriatric Medical Center, in addition to the two existing ones, to provide fully integrated services including surgeries for the elderly. A cancer treatment center will be constructed, as well as an addiction center.

Ain Wazein Medical Village is cooperating with several universities, such as American University of Beirut (AUB), Ecole Supérieure des Affaires (ESA), for academic research and medical management.

The plan also includes increasing the number of beds to 450 from the current 250, expanding the palliative care center, and renovating the existing departments.

A building will be constructed to host the Faculty of Health for the Lebanese University. Ain Wazein Village previously dedicated a building for the faculty. It also comprises a vocational nursing school.

The project will create an additional 250 full time jobs, bringing the total workforce to 750. The number of physicians will increase 20 percent, from the current 120.
