The total number of airport passengers, including arrivals, departures, and those transiting will reach 8.2 million by the end of the year.

Airport activity has increased eight percent this year.

Tony Ghostine, Head of Economic Division at the Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport, said: “There is increase in trips heading to Najaf in Iraq, and this is one of the reasons behind the growth in number of passengers.”

There was also increase in the number of tourists visiting the country, which reached 1.7 million as of November, registering 11 percent increase in the first 11 months compared to the same period last year.

According to the Directorate of Civil Aviation, the number of daily airplanes arriving and departing from Lebanon reached its peak in July and August (360 flights per day). This number decreases to less than 150 airplanes in low seasons. An average of 180 flights are departing and arriving during December.
