Construction works for Al Shafi Hospital in Hermel will start in July, to be completed in 2020. The hospital is owned by Ali Taha.

The total built-up area of the hospital is 4,350 square meters (m2), and the land plot measures 10,000 m2. It will include 102 beds.

Taha gained a license from the Ministry of Public Health to build a first category hospital which provides all medical services, including surgeries, emergency care, a radiology department, and laboratories.

Al Shafi Hospital is three kilometers far from Al Batoul Hospital and the Hermel Public Hospital. Taha said: “There is still a large need for medical services in the region to serve a population of 100,000.”

Investment in the hospital is estimated at $5 million. Antoine Yammine Company is the project’s contractor. “We were keen to abide by international standards in designing the hospital,” Taha said. The contractor has previously worked on several hospitals.

The hospital is expected to create around 100 jobs, excluding the physicians.

Taha said that he has plans to open a long stay hospital adjacent to Al Shafi Hospital to serve elderly people.
